Kaleb said that he wanted to grow up to be Power Ranger, and so the Power Rangers wrote him back. :) Check it out at True Heroes of Cosplay. It’s stuff like this that makes me love cosplay and Power Rangers!

I don’t particularly love or hate the Power Rangers but I swear, my heart swelled. So sweet AND awesome.

Our second rescue from beagles who have lived their entire lives inside a research laboratory. These beagles have known nothing except the confines of metal cages. They have known no soft human touch, no warm bed, no companionship, no love. They have never been outside or sniffed a tree or grass.

Finally, after years of being poked and prodded, these beagles are FREE! ARME got the call that a facility was willing to release them to us after they had been used in several tests. We picked them up on June 8th and now they are all in loving foster homes, and one has already been adopted. (Click here too see the video).

It’s fucking tail wagging when it gets used to the grass oh god

Movies: Pacific Rim gets reimagined as an oldschool Godzilla movie with some very thoughtful flair. [ScreenCrush]

YES.

To me, the core of that attraction is that she is a better reporter than he is. Think about being Superman for a second. The Olympic record for weightlifting is 1,038 lbs., but you could lift more than that as a child. The record for the 100 meter dash is 9.58 seconds, but you can travel over 51 miles in that time. Going to Vegas? You don’t need your X-Ray vision to win at Blackjack, because you can just count the cards while holding down a conversation about nuclear physics. Without really trying, you are better at just about everything than anyone else in the world.

However, (as Mark Waid once pointed out in a podcast with Marv Wolfman) none of that really translates to your chosen profession. Typing really fast does not help your prose. Being able to lift a tank does not help you convince a source to go on record. It is as near to competing straight up with normal people as Superman would ever be capable of. Even then, it comes easily enough to him that you get a pretty lofty perch at a great paper very early in your career. It is just in this one context, there is someone better than you are: Lois Lane.

As mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent, you reach up for the first time in your life and she rejects you.

To me, it is an inversion of the Luthor story. Luthor sees someone above him and feels hate. Superman sees someone above him and feels love.

Please consider this:
For those living in poverty in depressed areas with high unemployment, drugs and alcohol may seem like the only possible comfort when there is little hope of self-improvement.
This is why when Thatcher’s government cynically funded studies into the links between drug abuse and unemployment in areas of Scotland they had run down into extreme poverty, they found that whilst drug-taking is related to unemployment, it is has an almost insignificant link to TIME a person is unemployed. One of the recommendations of the report was that the government push the legal drugs such as alcohol and tobacco instead, as at least this could be monitored (and it has always been the best way for a country to “tax” its poor.
Housing and unemployment benefit will cost just under £22bn this year, £1bn LESS than the amount of corporation tax left unpaid each year, a legacy of the Thatcher government and their attempts to encourage big business in the UK.
We should not be complaining about the worst off, the hopeless and those suffering worse than us during difficult times, but about those who earn billions and pay next to nothing back.
Please don’t demonise the unemployed, that’s what the upper-class, the wealthy and the privileged want us to do, so we don’t remember whose fault our current economic situation is.
